Abia Bye-Election: Reply Sen. Kalu With Salary Payment, Projects, APC Youths Challenge Ikpeazu

As parties continue to trade tackles ahead of the Saturday Aba North/South Federal Constituency bye-election Abia State, a group of APC youth under the aegis of Progressives Youth Organisations, PYO has challenged the state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to show what he and his party, the PDP have done for the people of the Federal constituency to deserve their votes.

The group while insisting that the state government takes glory in projects they never executed challenged the governor to show what he has achieve in the past six years he had held sway as the state governor, saying it is embarrassing.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Secretary of PYO, Kenneth Ikeazor said Sen. Kalu enjoys the goodwill of Abia people across board on the account of the positive footprints he left behind as the state governor between 1999-2007.

Mr. Ikeazor stated that Abians enjoyed a significant improvement in the area of infrastructure, especially in road construction where he said the Abia North Senator invested massively while he was Governor in a bid to lubricate the commercial status of Aba, the Enyimba City and make it accessible for business transaction.

He said “It is on record, that under Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, there was no case of kidnap anywhere in Abia State throughout his tenure as governor. Teachers and civil servants received their salaries before the 25th of every month. There was free education which our children enjoyed. There was massive investment in youth and women.

“We challenge governor Okezie Ikpeazu to reply Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu with effective service delivery to Abians in the area of payment of salaries to teachers and civil servants instead of resorting to name calling. We never had it bad in the history of Abia where workers groan under the heavy weight of backlog of unpaid salaries.

“Teachers’ strike is now a recurrent decimal. Education if fast collapsing under the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. A stench of corruption and bad leadership oozes from all parts of the of Aba, including Umuobiakwa, Obingwa hometown of the Governor. Aba people will not make the mistake of voting those who have mortgaged their future. PDP is a bad market not worth the the patronage of any progressive minded person”.

While expressing optimism that the candidate of APC in the Saturday election, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu will emerge victorious, he said Sen. Kalu is the only APC leader that can stand anywhere in Aba and mention the name of President Muhammadu Buhari in good light and receive accolades, adding that he has endeared himself to the people with a long standing cordial relationship.

He called on Aba North/South constituents to massively vote for APC to have a replicate of the developmental projects going on in Abia North where APC produced the majority of the state and Federal representatives.

According to Ikeazor, the popularity of the PDP has fizzled away, adding that analysts who were before now sympathetic to the party have abandoned them on the account of perpetual poor leadership.

The Aba North/South Federal Constituency seat became vacant following the death of the former occupant, Hon. Ossy Prestige.

The Saturday election will have the candidate of APC, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu square it up with the candidates of PDP and APGA, represented by Chimaobi Ebisike and Hon. Destiny Akaraka Nwagwu respectively.

Priests had predicted victory for the candidate of the APC in the election.
