Abia APC Women Hold Demonstration In Support Of Onyejeocha, Accuse LP Of Attacks

All Progressives Congress (APC) women in Abia State under the aegis of Asiwaju Super Women (ASW), have protested in Umuahia over the recent demonstration by some women purported to be members of APC, against the victory of the Minister of State for Labour, Hon Nkiruka Onyejeocha at the Tribunal.

The demonstrating women were said to have attacked and accused Onyejeocha of not supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last election.

The pro Onyejeocha women who protested in Umuahia, sang solidarity songs in support of Tinubu and Onyejeocha and carried placards some of which read, “Labour sympathizers, leave Onyejeocha alone to do her work”, “Onyejeocha is our own person”, Onyejeocha was totally in support of Tinubu during the election”, among others.

The women later took their protest to the national welfare secretary of APC, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, whom they urged to take their message to both the President and Minister of State for Labour in Abuja.

Speaking, leader of the protesters and the deputy women leader, ASW, Abia State, Mrs. Jane Ogbuta, accused the Labour Party in the state, of hiring some women who are not Abians to demonstrate against Onyejeocha over her victory at the Tribunal.

She said contrary to the anti-Onyecheocha demonstrators that the Minister was involved in anti party activities during the election, Ogbuta said Onyejeocha neither was involved in anti party activities not engaged in acts that undermined the emergence of Tinubu as president.

“We know those behind the demonstration and attack on Onyejeocha.

“They should stop distracting her because they can’t stop her victory; on her mandate and that of the president we stand.”

The women while thanking Tinubu for appointing Onyejeocha as Minister, commended him for his victory at the Tribunal.

Responding, Nwankpa said he really doubted if those who demonstrated against the Minister in Abuja were actually APC members.

“As a former chairman of the party in the state, I never recognized any of the faces of those who demonstrated in Abuja against Onyejeocha.

“How would a bonafide member of APC protest against his or her party person for winning at the tribunal against the LP candidate?”

Nwankpa said Onyejeocha should rather be commended by every APC member for not abandoning her mandate, instead of being vilified.

While promising to convey the women’s message to the President and the Minister, Nwankpa assured them that Tinubu would not be distracted by the antics of detractors
