Abia state faction of All Progressives Congress APC loyal to Hon. Donatus Nwankpa on Monday appointed its deputy Chairman, Mr Goldie Nwabara as the acting Chairman of the party.
This was disclosed by the state secretary, Barr. Perfect Okorie in a meeting held at the party state Secretariat in Umuahia the state capital.
While addressing other members of the State Working Committee of the party, Okorie said the deputy chairman has always been there for the party.
He therefore moved a motion for confirmation of the Deputy Chairman as its acting chairman.
The motion was seconded by the zonal Liaison Officer Orji Chibezirim.
In the absence of an opposing voice, Okorie confirmed him the acting chairman.
This is following the dismissal of the former state factional chairman, Acho Obioma who has left the party APC for Labour Party.
In an acceptance speech, Nwabara expressed his joy and profound gratitude to the SWC saying, it’s another turn around in his life.
He promised to move the party forward and also carry everyone in the party along.
He said the outcome of the primaries that were conducted earlier has been sent to the national leadership of the party, saying they have the final decision.
He noted that there should be a formidable force to see that bad governance leaves, Abia State, stressing that direct primary was the directive of the national leadership of the party.
He said, “We are looking up to the national for way forward”
Before the end of the meeting the publicity secretary Perfect Okorie read a letter from the National body of APC which contains the decision of carrying out direct mode of primaries and select the right people that will fly the flag of the great party in the State.
