Abia APC Deputy Chairman Fires Back At Ukwa West LG Chairman, Describes Communiqué As Diversionary

The Abia State All Progressives Congress, APC, Deputy Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogunka Adiele John, has described the Communiqué issued by the Ukwa West APC, Caretaker Committee Chairman as diversionary and an attempt to whitewash the untoward acts he has been perpetrating aimed at causing disunity in the party in the local government area.

In a statement made available exclusively to ABN TV, Chief John said it was unfortunate that the Ukwa West APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Allwell Enwereji would resort to playing to the gallery instead of dwelling on issues that should build the APC in Ukwa.

According to Chief John, “I have devoted my resources, since I joined the APC, to ensure that the party grew in leaps and bounds, but unfortunately, I have a LG Chairman, whose preoccupation has been the total disregard to the party administrative arrangements put in place in the LG, thereby fanning the embers of disunity, and encouraging disenchantment among party members”

“It is very sad that the outcome of a meeting of Ukwa West APC stakeholders that I convened in my capacity as the Deputy Chairman, Caretaker Committee of APC in Abia State, which attracted highly respected leaders of the party across the local government and two-third of the LG Executive Committee, should receive a call by the Caretaker Committee Chairman that it be disregarded. Is it not obvious to the LG Chairman that Ozar Zone has two Wards comprising Ozar Ukwu and Ozar West. What was the justification for choosing two party members from Ozar Ukwu to the exclusion of Ozar West to form the Caucus, if not to deliberately cause bad-blood and stoke up unnecessary controversy in the party. It should be common knowledge that Chief Enwereji excluded Ozar West Ward from his Caucus because of his hatred for Pst. Nwadike Nwankwo, apart from being from Ozar West Ward, is a Leader of the Ward and a member of the APC since 2014.

“Is it not disheartening and a show of insensitivity that Chief Enwereji would be praising to the high heavens the composition of the Abia South APC Caucus that has the positions of Chairman, 1st Vice Chairman and Secretary ceded to Ngwa to the exclusion of Ukwa, the two blocs that makeup Abia South.

I find it worrisome that the Chairman has continued to defend his Caucus, which excluded the candidate of the APC for the House of Representatives in the 2019 election, Mr. Felix Chinedu Nworgu, from representing his own Ward in the said Caucus, yet Chief Enwereji was bold to use a total stranger in Ukwa West APC to supplant the former candidate”

He said the Communiqué issued by the LG Caretaker Chairman would have had some tinge of credibility if he had got some stakeholders who attended the meeting to dissociate themselves from the outcome of the meeting, adding that he had noted the libellous aspect of the Communiqué and had started making consultations with his lawyers.

Chief John appealed to all the stakeholders that attended the meeting and the entire members of the party in Ukwa West and the general public to ignore the diversionary and selfish tendencies of the LG Chairman, as he was committed to ensuring the protection of the interest of all members.
