Ahead of the governorship election in Abia State, there are indications that a chieftain of the party and a front runner aspirant, Prof. Gregory Ibe may dump the ruling PDP in the state.
Prof. Ibe, the proprietor Gregory University Uturu had earlier declared his intention to run for the number one office in the state, insisting that it is time for Abia North to produce the governor of the state.
Speaking with ABN TV on Friday, media aide to Prof. Ibe, Rev. Ogbonnaya Ogwo said the governorship aspirant is under a lot of pressure to decamp, noting that he is still in the middle of serious consultations.
He said at the right time, the Professor will speak to the rumours.
Rev. Ogwo said Prof. Ibe is still in talks with the officials of the PDP, maintaining that he has not officially decamped.
His plan to dump the party may not be unconnected with rumours that governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu has an anointed candidate to succeed him in office.
