Abia 2023: Our Priority To Produce Credible, Dependable APC Governor Who’ll Work For All Abians — Rep. Onuigbo

As the race for governorship of Abia State in 2023 draws nearer, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Rep Sam Onuigbo has said the state chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC is not only interested in producing Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s successor but ensuring that he or she must be dependable, reliable, wields excellent track record of performance and willing to work for all segments of the state.

Rep. Sam Onuigbo

Speaking with ABN TV on Saturday in Abuja at the Eagles Square national convention venue of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, the lawmaker expressed displeasure that Abia has occupied a back seat in developmental index, expressing optimism that his party, the APC will reverse that from 2023 by ensuring that a governor who has a reputable credential emerges.

On the crisis rocking the state chapter of APC, Rep. Onuigbo emphasised that after the initial disagreement that is characteristic of political contests, the matter has been adjudicated by the Court of Appeal which affirmed that Dr Ononugbo is the Chairman of our party in Abia State. He therefore appealed to all parties not only to abide by the decision of the appellate Court, but to come together and work as a team in our concerted efforts to rescue the state in the interest of this and future generations of Abians.

Rep Onuigbo therefore repeatedly appealed that all parties should sheath their sword and allow peace to reign for the interest of the masses whom he said are clamouring for good leadership and better standard of living.

He expressed some optimism in the quick and peaceful resolution of the crisis just as he commended the maturity and good conduct exhibited by Abia APC at the venue of the national convention, noting that such is required for the interest of the party and all Abians are understandably yawning for a quick change to enable them experience positive leadership.

He said that by provisions of Sec. 19(2) of the Act the Council is required to present a carbon budget to the Federal Executive Council within one year after this Act is assented to.
