Ahead of the 2023 general elections, United Nations Mayor of Peace and first runner up in the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party PDP gubernatorial primaries in Abia State, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe has played host to the governorship candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu.
Igbokwe received Chief Kalu barely 24 hours after pledging to support the winner of his party’s primaries Prof Uche Eliazar Ikonne to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious at the polls.
Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu who spoke with newsmen after the visit said he was at the country home of the businessman and politician to consult with him on how to forge a common front and move the state forward among other issues.
Chief Kalu said APP shares a common interest in youth empowerment with Igbokwe who is also a successful businessman, stating that it will be good to have him as a partner in progress
On the chances of his party winning elections in the state, Chief Kalu said people view the APP as a new party, but are quick to forget that the party is made up of people.
He argued that he is the most experienced among all those contesting for the Abia guber race having been in government before and therefore more prepared to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Abia if elected.
On his relationship with his brother, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, since his defection from the All Progressive Congress (APC), he said their relationship remains cordial. He stated that his brother was aware of the ill treatment meted out to him by his former party. He added that he consulted OUK before the move to his present party.
