Residents and motorists along the popular Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill area of Aba town, Abia State on Friday scampered for safety as police and army personnel engaged each other in fisticuffs, ABN TV reports.
Our source said disagreement started when policemen from the nearby Eziama Divisional Police station, on a road check at Onyeador Close/Ikot Ekpene Road/East Street, allegedly slapped an officer of the Nigerian Army during an argument.
The cause of the argument was not immediately ascertained.
The scene engulfed in a brawl when the official of the Nigerian Army who was not in uniform at the time, returned with his armed colleagues and engaged the policemen in a real fight, causing fear among residents and motorists.
Normalcy has since been restored.
