Aba North/South: Mascot Uzor-Kalu Polls 47,825 Votes To Emerge APC Candidate

A former Chief of Staff in Abia State, Chief Mascot Uzor-Kalu has polled 47,825 votes to emerge the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in the upcoming Aba North/South bye-election scheduled to take place 27th of March, 2017.

This is contained in a statement made available to ABN TV by the APC Publicity Secretary in Abia State, Comrade Benedict Godson.

The statement was titled, “Mascot Uzor-Kalu is our candidate for March 2021 Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency by-election.”

Comrade Godson said the chairman of the electoral and returning officer of the committee, Barrister Bisi Idaomi, announced that Aba North produced 23,248 votes while Aba South produced 23, 977 for Mascot Uzor-Kalu which gave him a total of 47,825 votes in both local governments.

The statement read, “For coming out tops and winner of the properly conducted March 8, 2021, primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the March 27, 2021, Aba North / Aba South Federal Constituency by-election, Hon. Mascot Uzor-Kalu is now our candidate.

“We are taking this stand in agreement with the results announced by the chairman of the electoral and returning officer of the committee, Barrister Bisi Idaomi, who announced Aba North 23,248 and Aba South 23, 977. Both Lga Hon. Mascot Uzor-Kalu polled 47,825 votes to win the election.

“Standing with the integrity of the committee and the credibility of the properly conducted election in the 24 Wards of the Federal Constituency, Abia State Chapter of the APC, therefore, makes it clear that henceforth, Hon. Mascot Uzor-Kalu will fly our flag and we shall support him.

“From the results from the 24 Wards: 12 wards in Aba South and 12 wards in Aba North where he won with an overwhelming majority, Barr Bisi Idaomi declared Hon. Mascot Uzor-Kalu as the winner of the primaries for the by-election coming on the 27th of March.

“The police witnessed it, DSS witnessed it, INEC witnessed it, the state working Committee witnessed it and the expanded exco, Aba North and Aba South Chairmen, other exco members. some Abia APC leaders and members of the press all witnessed it as well.

“As a party, we say congratulations to Hon. Mascot Uzor-Kalu. We don’t have any doubt in him. He has the capacity to deliver and we’ll support him till Victory.”

The Aba North/South federal constituency seat became vacant following the death of Hon. Ossy Prestige of the APGA was elected in 2019.

He died earlier in the year at a German hospital.
