Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, has disclosed that the administration of Governor Alex Otti has successfully passed a total of 30 Executive Bills within two years in office.
Uwanna made this known on Monday during the signing of 18 new Executive Bills into law by the Governor in a joint Executive-Legislative session at Government House, Umuahia.
He stated that the laws reflect the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and development-focused legislation, all of which are rooted in the Governor’s policy framework and campaign promises.
“These laws are not just numbers; they are meaningful instruments that drive our reform agenda,” Uwanna said. “From repeals and amendments to new legislations, the Governor is ensuring that Abia has a robust legal foundation to deliver good governance.”
Among the new laws are the Abia State Estate Development Agency (Repeal) Law 2025 and the Abia State Senior Citizens Law 2025, which aim to improve housing policies and welfare for elderly citizens, respectively.
The Attorney-General praised the collaborative atmosphere between the Executive and the Legislature, calling it a model for effective governance.
