A 24-year-old Chigozie Nwokoro of Ajata Ibeku Village in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State on Wednesday was apprehended while attempting to dump the corpse of his girlfriend identified as Beauty, ABN TV reports.

Luck ran out of him when the locals sighted him and attempted to lynch him, before the swift arrival of the police patrol team.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing the 20-year-old native of Oboro Ikwuano local government area of the state whom he has been dating for two years.

Narrating how he killed the victim, the suspect said at about 7pm on Wednesday, he attempted to have sex with Beauty and she refused, leading him to beat her up.

According to him, while they were struggling, Beauty hit her head on the wall, which resulted in her death.

Investigation however reveals that the victim has multiple stabs on her body. She was rushed to Federal Medical Centre Umuahia where she was confirmed dead.

ABN TV learnt that her body has been deposited at the morgue while an autopsy will be conducted at a later date.

A source who spoke with our correspondent said the accused person is a Keke rider.

According to the source who pleaded anonymity, “We were shocked when the boy passed us with his Keke (tricycle) with full speed. I told my brother that I saw something inside the Keke that looked like a dead body.

“We decided to follow him without his notice until he entered inside the bush to dump the body then we caught him red-handed.”

However, another source in the community told our correspondent a different story about how the man allegedly killed his girlfriend.

According to him, ”She was his girlfriend and they were fighting suddenly she tripped and hit her face on the floor.”

“The guy didn’t remove any body part.”

Meanwhile, as at time of filing this report, efforts by ABN TV to get the reaction of the PPRO of Abia State Police Command proved abortive.
