The alarming rate of marital breakdowns has sparked concerns among legal professionals, with Barrister Wendy Okosa sharing a troubling observation from a courtroom session.
Taking to social media, Barr. Okosa revealed that out of 24 cases listed in court today, 22 were divorce petitions, all scheduled for hearing in just one courtroom within a single day. This overwhelming number, she noted, reflects a growing trend that questions the stability of modern marriages.
“And, unfortunately, even I stepped into court today… to put asunder for marriage,” she stated, emphasizing that while lawyers often advise clients to seek reconciliation, they are ultimately bound to represent their clients’ interests.
Expressing her concern for the institution of marriage, she posed critical questions: Is there a solution? Can anything be done to salvage this trend? How do we even preach the idea of a healthy marriage in these times?
Barr. Okosa further remarked on the irony of the situation, suggesting that lawyers might be the best people to marry, given their firsthand exposure to the realities of divorce cases and the lessons they derive from them.
