2027: NNPP Urges Nigerians To Reject Politicians Who Failed To Fulfill 2023 Promises

Southwest leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on Nigerians to hold politicians accountable by rejecting any party or candidate that has failed to fulfil their promises made during the 2023 elections.

In a statement released on Sunday, Ajadi stressed the need for voters to carefully evaluate the track records of political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged citizens to base their decisions on what parties have actually delivered over the past two years, rather than on new campaign rhetoric.

“The current reality in the country shows a deep disconnect between promises and performance,” Ajadi stated.

“Many Nigerians are now living in increased hardship, a far cry from the hopeful visions sold to them during the last election cycle.”

He specifically criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of failing to live up to its commitments.

“While the APC promised to improve the lives of Nigerians, what we see today is widespread suffering. People are begging to survive. The party has failed the masses,” he said.

Ajadi also took aim at the APC’s much-publicised “Renewed Hope Agenda”, saying it only raised expectations that were ultimately dashed.

“The agenda promised to uplift the poor, but what we see is the opposite—the poor have been suffocated by economic mismanagement. Workers’ wages cannot meet basic needs, and poverty is deepening.”

He criticised the removal of fuel subsidies without adequate cushioning policies, saying the move has pushed fuel prices beyond the reach of average Nigerians and triggered a ripple effect throughout the economy.

Ajadi also expressed concern over the weakening of the Naira, noting that it now trades at a lower value than the CFA used by neighbouring Francophone West African nations.

“It’s a national embarrassment that the Naira has lost value to currencies in our region,” he said.

Despite his criticism, Ajadi urged the federal government to act swiftly to stabilise the economy and restore the value of the naira. He also reiterated the importance of informed voting in 2027.

“Nigerians must demand accountability. They must vote based on performance, not empty promises,” he concluded.
