2027: ‘Empty Coalitions Can’t Build A New Future’ — SEPA (VIDEO)

‘The South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA) has firmly rejected what it describes as “empty and recycled political coalitions,” declaring its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group made this position known during the official launch of its grassroots movement, SEPA 2027, in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the event, SEPA Convener, John CDO Ikeotuonye, warned Southeastern youths against falling for the familiar political gimmicks of old political actors whose only interest, he said, is personal gain.

“We don’t want to listen to coalitions anymore. We are done with serial coalitionists — people who come together not for national interest or Southeast advancement, but for what they stand to gain,” Ikeotuonye declared.

“They are not thinking about you, not thinking about Nigeria, and certainly not thinking about the Southeast. They only gather when power is no longer within their grasp.”

Ikeotuonye said SEPA 2027 was birthed to inspire a political rebirth in the Southeast, especially among the youth, and to reposition the region at the center of national decision-making.

“It’s time to stop standing on the sidelines,” he said. “We’re not just endorsing President Tinubu — we are stepping into active politics to take control of our own destiny.”

He described President Tinubu’s leadership as visionary and inclusive, pointing to key developments like the South East Development Commission (SEDC), tax reforms, and infrastructure projects that directly benefit the region.

“Yes, things are tough, but Tinubu is laying the foundation for a better Nigeria. He’s a president who governs for tomorrow,” Ikeotuonye noted.

Reiterating SEPA’s stance, Ikeotuonye said the Southeast must not allow itself to be used again by “irrelevant political actors who recycle the same strategies with no real solutions.”

“These charlatans will always return with new promises when the system doesn’t favor them. It’s time we retire them for good,” he said.

He called on Southeast youths and progressives to join a “workable, strategic and visionary movement” rather than align with political opportunists masquerading as saviors.

SEPA encouraged all Southeasterners to rally around President Tinubu and become part of a progressive and united political front.

“Let us join the winning team. Let us step forward and be part of the process, so we can negotiate better for our people and claim our rightful place in Nigeria’s political future.”

The launch of SEPA 2027 marks the beginning of what the group calls a full-scale grassroots mobilization across the Southeast ahead of the 2027 elections.
