In his opening remarks, the forum’s Deputy Leader, Hon. Uzoma Ihuka, emphasized the need for Abia Central to step up its political engagements, noting that Abia North and Abia South senatorial zones have shown more progress in political structuring. He urged stakeholders to foster unity to ensure victory in the next election.

Speaking at the event, APC’s National Welfare Secretary, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, expressed appreciation for the attendees and welcomed new members into the party. He highlighted their impact on strengthening the APC in the state and reaffirmed the party’s mission to unseat the current Abia State government. He called on members to remain committed to producing the next governor and other key stakeholders in the state.

APC chieftain Hon. Obinna Oriaku encouraged members to be proud of their political affiliation, asserting that the current administration under Governor Alex Otti has underperformed and can be replaced through democratic means.

Similarly, Prince Chidi Ogbulafor expressed confidence in the growing strength of APC in Abia State, stating that the influx of capable individuals into the party signals a strong readiness to take over leadership.

Key Resolutions from the Meeting:

  1. A vote of confidence was passed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and his administration’s transformational agenda for Nigeria.
  2. APC members in Abia State were urged to unite and work collectively towards securing victory in the 2027 elections at all levels.
  3. New members were assured of equal opportunities within the party, with an open-door policy for all well-meaning Abians to join.
  4. The forum commended the national leadership of the party, including the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, for their efforts in maintaining party unity.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Emeka Atuma criticized the leadership style of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, describing it as lacking transparency and governance direction. He alleged that the people of Abia State have been misled about the true state of affairs and labeled the administration as “accidental,” with unpopular figures at the helm.

Hon. Atuma reaffirmed that the APC is committed to transparency, good governance, and human capital development once it assumes leadership in Abia State. He also called on Abians to embrace the APC and reject misinformation suggesting that the party does not represent Igbo interests.
