2026 WCQ: We Must Not Show Super Eagles Respect — Ex-Zimbabwe Head Coach

Former Zimbabwe head coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, has charged the country’s senior men’s national team, Warriors, not to show Nigeria’s Super Eagles respect.

The Super Eagles will take on Zimbabwe on matchday two of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The game will take place inside the Huye Stadium in Rwanda on 19 November 2023.

Prior to the game against the Super Eagles, Zimbabwe will kick off their qualifying campaign against Rwanda on 15 November.

Ahead of the doubleheader clash with the Super Eagles and Rwanda Chidzambwa, who coached Zimbabwe national team from 2017 to 2019, urged the players to focus on their own brand of football.

“We must not respect them, we must play our own type of football, fight for ninety minutes, and achieve good results for the nation,” the 71-year-old was quoted on the Zimbabwe Football Association X handle.

Zimbabwe’s men’s national team has never qualified for the FIFA senior World Cup.

Also, they will not be at next year’s AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire due to disqualification from the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a home game against Lesotho on November 16.
