2023: We’ll Support Abians With Capacity But Lack Funds, Godfathers To Enthrone Good Leadership — Group

A non-political group of like minds, Abia Political Movement (APM), has said it will actively participate in the process of electing leaders at various leadership positions in the state come 2023.

According to the group, Abians with capacity who are desirous of leading but lack financial war chest or godfathers to endorse them will receive the support of the group.

The Director General of the Group (APM), Mazi Dr Agodi Kanu therefore called on political parties to stick to internal democracy and voter’s advocacy in Abia State as the race for 2023 election gathers momentum.

Mazi Kanu said the group will not fold its arms but take part in the process of choosing leaders across board in 2023.

He said “We must decide who are Governor, Senators, House of Representatives Members, House of Assembly Members, LGA Chairmen, Councilors, which should be through our consensus and numerical strength.

“We are a moving Movement that want to give leadership opportunities to Abians desirous to serve but lack resources or godfather to back them up.

“We believe and play Personality Profile Politics as opposed to Political Party Politics.

“We are neither controlled nor funded by any government, gladiator or moneybag. APM as Abia Child of Circumstance is and will be funded by all Abians.

“We are opposed to every form of manipulation and abuse of our sensibilities through subterranean imposition of leaders on us that has done us no good”.

He frowned at the activities of some political parties whom he accused of paying the youths of Abia some amount of money during elections to disrupt the process.

He urged Abia youths to reject being used as hoodlums and thugs.

He said that Abia state cannot be equated with other state around it due to the bad leadership. Hence, he urged Abians both at home and in the diasporas to rise up to the occasion, get their PVCs ready, return home and vote for leaders after their hearts.

Furthermore, he said there is no truth in the viral news of renewing of PVCs. “It is called a permanent voter’s card not temporary, hence there is no need for anyone who has obtained his/her PVCs to register again”.

He emphasized that it is an offense to resister for the collection of PVC twice or more.

In his closing remarks he said “the power of the ballot is more than the power of the bullet” so Abians should come out in their number and vote in 2023. “2023 we shall change the narrative“.
