The presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has accused the opposition of insinuating fake news and misinformation against him using social media, ABN TV learnt.

The statement might be in response to increasing complaints and allegations against the teeming supporters of Mr Obi, known as the ‘Obedient’.

Recall that the presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had claimed that supporters of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi were defaming him.

Tinubu, in a statement signed by Director, Media and Communications, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, had urged Obi to call his supporters to order, warning that “falsehood and disinformation will not win elections”.

Obi said the Labour Party remains resolute in its commitment to an issue-based and clean campaign.

“We will also rebuff all such ploys of deceit and calumny meant to create disaffection among Nigerian’s voting population, who desire credible leadership change’’, he added.
