2023: On Igbo Presidency We Stand, Ekweremadu, Anyim, Others Insist (VIDEO)

As the clamour for inclusiveness of Ndigbo in the project Nigeria continues, former Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu has said the Igbo is not ready to shift grounds in its quest to have a shot at the Presidency in 2023.

According to Ekweremadu, the issue of producing the next President of the country remains cardinal to Ndigbo to further strengthen the country’s unity.

ABN TV report that this was the basis of a meeting of Igbo leaders on Tuesday in Igbere, Bende local government area of Abia State, at the instance of former governor of the state and Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.

According to the National Assembly member, since 1999, the Presidency has moved across two major geopolitical zones without Ndigbo participating.

He expressed optimism that producing the next President of Igbo extraction is possible, noting that it would require the coming together of Igbo leaders across the political divides to make the dream a reality.

While thanking the convener, Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for bringing Igbo leaders to deliberate on their future, he expressed gratitude to all those who made the journey to Igbere, noting that it is a step in the right direction in getting Ndigbo relevant in the scheme of affairs.

He assured of his readiness to continue to pursue an agenda that will promote the common interest of Ndigbo generally at the National Assembly.

In his remarks, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim noted that the Igbere meeting is a clear indication that Ndigbo knows what they want and how to go about it.

According to Anyim, the coming together of Igbo political leaders from various political parties is a communication of resolve among sons and daughters of Ndigbo worldwide.

While dismissing insinuations that Igbo are not united, he expressed the readiness of the people to work together for a common agenda.
