2023 Elections: Why I Refused To Join APC, PDP – Chris Imumolen

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Accord Party (AP) presidential candidate, Christopher Imumolen has explained why he refused to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Imumolen who described the current political system as that which has failed the people in more than two decades of its return to democracy said he needed to make a clean break from the prominent political parties.

The youthful presidential hopeful disclosed that he chose AP in order to ventilate his political aspirations to give a fresh view of what he feels governance should look like.

In a TV interview, he said the APC and the PDP have had the opportunity to govern the country since 1999 but failed to deliver the dividends of democracy.

“I decided not to join any of these so-called big political parties because I wanted a fresh perspective on governance”, Imumolen said.

“I told myself that if I wanted to be the agent of change that I desired to be, I needed to dissociate from the system that hasn’t really worked despite a host of erudite fellows.”

He described Nigeria as a company having the same challenge of management despite several attempts by different personnel to make a difference.

“It’s just like an organization which keeps having the same problem again and again for say, 30 years.

“When you notice that the solution proffered by those who are supposed to know is not working, the best thing to do will be to look outside.

“To bring someone who has not been tainted by the malaise that does not make things work in that organization.

“I am that someone who is untainted by the system, with no affiliations or any vested interests.

“I will look at the country’s problems from a fresh prism as I am better placed to solve them”, Imumolen assured.
