2023: APC Is Hero Of Nigeria – Gov Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has stated once again that he has no intention or plan to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This is despite his stance on zoning the presidency to the South, and his dismissal of rumors that he is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC as speculative.

The Ikwere-born politician, who has clashed with his party, the PDP, has maintained that he is an unrepentant member of the main opposition party.

This was stated by the governor on Monday during the 114th quarterly general meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt.

He recalled how the ruling party’s governors, particularly those from the north, insisted on power shifting to the south during the primary elections.

“The APC governors said that the way the country is, they want the country to be united, and thus the presidency should go to the South,” he added.

According to all indications, the Rivers governor is collaborating with the APC and its presidential candidate on a national level, despite declaring war on his party’s presidential candidate.

Wike and his party have been at odds since the outcome of the main opposition party’s presidential primary did not favor him.

The governor, who had stated that he would work with whoever won the primary election, has been outraged since May 2022, when Atiku Abubakar was declared the winner of the party’s primary election.
