Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Abia state, the Action Peoples Party (APP) held a key stakeholder meeting today at the state capital, Umuahia, involving all the ward Chairmen and L.G. Chairmen across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
The meeting, according to our correspondent, was to fine-tune plans on how to deliver the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu (KSJI), and other candidates of the party contesting for different elective positions.
Addressing the stakeholders, the APP governorship candidate, who attended the meeting alongside his running mate, Prof. Osondu Akoma, expressed his gratitude to all the attendees, who in one way or another other have contributed to the exponential growth of the party in the state so far, noting that at the inception of the party, many thought his governorship ambition was impossible, but now see its possibility.
He further implored them not to relent or be dismayed, stating that he was fully prepared for the election while also urging them to come and fight together with him for victory at the polls.
Speaking earlier, the state chairman of the APP, Elder Princewill Ukaegu, charged the stakeholders to close ranks and work together with the relevant structures and pro-party groups at their respective LGAs, pointing out that the political odds of the governorship election are in favor of the party at the moment and must be consolidated till victory is actualized.
Other key stakeholders of the party that were present at the meeting included the DG of the mascot Uzor Kalu Campaign Organization, Elder Mark Ugorji; Comr. Chukwu Ndem, State Deputy Chairman, Comr. Emeka Adile, State Administrative Secretary; and Chief Samuel Chibuike Nwachukwu; Umuahia South State House of Assembly Candidate, amongst others.
