2 Cult Members Arrested, 1 Killed In Ogun Clash

Two members of the deadly Aiye cult, Habeeb Muideen a.k.a Oko 8, and Ibrahim a.k.a Ayin, were apprehended after a clash with a rival gang at the Elega/Iberekodo axis of Ogun State’s Abeokuta metropolis.

During the ensuing clash, one of the gang members was slain, and axes and other objects thought to be charms were found from the captured individuals.

The two cult gang members were apprehended by officers of the Ogun State Police Command during the supremacy clash in the early hours of Sunday, April 24, 2022, according to the Command’s spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement.

He added that Habeeb Muideen aka Oko 8 and Ibrahim aka ayin, were arrested following a distress call received by SWAT operatives that the group is engaged in a supremacy battle with another rival cult group at Elega/Iberekodo axis of Abeokuta metropolis.

“Upon the distress call, the commander SWAT CSP Kalejaye Olanrewaju quickly led his men to the scene.

“On sighting the policemen, the cultists ran in different directions but were hotly chased and Habeeb Muideen was arrested at Iberekodo while Ibrahim was apprehended at Ajitadun area of the metropolis.

“The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at SWAT office to determine their roles in the clash which left one Eiye member dead,” Abimbola said.

The Police spokesperson said not less than 37 members of the various cult group have been arrested in the last month when the command started clamping down on cultists across the state.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a comprehensive manhunt for the fleeing members of the groups.
