Abia Governorship: Traditional Rulers Pray For Mayor Igbokwe, Assure Him Of Support

The quest by Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu to succeed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of Abia State in 2023 has received a huge mileage as traditional rulers in Ohuhu, Umuahia North local government area of the state have prayed and released their blessings upon him.

The royal fathers under the aegis of Ohuhu Traditional Rulers council on Tuesday who met on Tuesday at the palace of the Chairman of the Council and the Diawa of Umudiawa, HRH Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu expressed appreciation to Don Lulu, businessman, entrepreneurs, industrialist and philanthropist for the courage to run for the number one political office in the state.

They made divine intercession for him and called on the spirits of the founding fathers of the clan to protect and guide their son in his political journey.

Chairman of the council, Eze Ofoegbu poured libation in agreement with other monarchs who pledged to support Don Lulu’s aspiration of being the next governor of Abia state.

They described Mayor Igbokwe as a worthy son who has impacted the lives of many not just in Ohuhu but in Abia state as a whole.

Mayor Lucky Igbokwe while responding to the traditional rulers appreciated them for hosting him. He thanked them for the blessings and confidence reposed on him.

The PDP front line gubernatorial aspirant promised to be a worthy ambassador of Ohuhu just like Dr M.I Okpara the political patriarch of Ohuhu clan.

He promised to replicate in Abia the developmental roadmap of Dr Okpara that led to the development of the defunct eastern region.

He vowed to revamp the moribund industries, and create employment for the teeming youth population in the state.

Mayor stated that his government will ensure the regular and timely payment of workers salaries as well as payment of the statutory allocation due to traditional rulers to enable them maintain peace in their domain. “I will also provide health insurance for the elderly which women from 55 and men at 60 years in the state will enjoy free of charge, ” he said.
