Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has said the health need of indigenes of the state remains a top priority to his administration, maintaining that he will encourage any investment that will strengthen the health facilities in the state.

The governor stated this during the official Commissioning of Freedom Word Mission Hospital and Sofa Diagnostic Centre, Oomne Drive, Abayi Aba, an intervention of the General Overseer of Freedom Word Assembly International, Pastor Ugoh Akwarandu.

The governor expressed appreciation to the church for its efforts in complementing the laudable interventions of his administration in the health sector.

Governor Ikpeazu said that with the commissioning of the health facility equipped with the state-of-the-art medical facilities, the Founder has in addition to building the spiritual content of members, improving the knowledge of the members of the society through quality education, also contributed to the health needs of Abians, a release by chief press Secretary to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka says.

The Governor noted that his administration recently built, furnished, and commissioned the first-ever Children’s Specialist Hospital in the South East in addition to the ongoing building of a Medical Village in Aba with a Heart and Kidney Center.

The statement added, “Governor Ikpeazu noted that the bold step taken by Pastor Ugoh Akwarandu stemmed from the records of his late father who dedicated his life in building several hospitals despite not being medical personnel and commended the Founder for towing the footsteps of his father.

“Earlier the General Overseer of Freedom Word Assembly International, Pastor Ugoh Akwarandu said that his decision to establish the Mission Hospital was as a result of a terrible health experience he had in the past, adding that the hospital has come to fill in the gap in the provision of quality, accessible and affordable health care services to all Abians irrespective of class.

“He said that the hospital is equipped with State-of-the-Art facilities noting that the church is committed to the service of humanity. He thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for constructing the road leading to the hospital and church as one of his first road projects in 2015.

“The Governor later cut the tapes to formally commission the hospital and the Diagnostic Center, and was taken on a facility tour of the medical facilities.

“The Governor was accompanied to the ceremony by several dignitaries including members of the State Assembly representing Osisioma Ngwa South, Hon. Nnamdi Allen Nwachukwu, Aba North State State Constituency, Hon. Aaron Uzodike, Aba Central State Constituency Hon. Abraham Oba, the Commissioners for Health Dr. Joe Jonathan Osuji, Information, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, Transport, Chief Godswill Uche Nwanoruo, Science and Technology, Chief Okezie Erondu, Sports, Chief Karibe Ojigwe, a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Udo Ibeji among other dignitaries.”
