On May 26, the APC declared Emenike the winner of the governorship primary in the state.
On November 11, Binta Nyako, a federal high court judge, sacked Emenike and ordered INEC to recognise Ogah as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
Both APC and Emenike had filed separate appeals challenging the verdict delivered by Nyako.
Dan Eke, another aspirant, also filed an appeal challenging the judgment of the trial judge that recognised Ogah’s candidacy.
In December 2022, the court of appeal sitting in Abuja affirmed Emenike as the party’s candidate.
In the unanimous verdict, Olabisi Ige, who led the appeal court panel, read out the names of the party members sent by the APC national secretariat to conduct the governorship primary that produced Emenike, affirming that the exercise was valid.
Another candidate, Dan Eke, also filed an appeal in which he contested the trial judge’s decision to recognize Ogah’s candidacy.
The court of appeal in Abuja confirmed Emenike as the party’s nominee in December 2022.
Olabisi Ige, who presided over the appeal court panel, read aloud the names of the party members appointed by the APC national headquarters to oversee the governorship primary that produced Emenike and affirmed the validity of the process in the unanimous decision.
South Korea mourns its country’s first robot suicide as the administrative officer robot was found defunct after throwing itself down some stairs.
South Korea’s Gumi City Council announced the robot was found unresponsive after having apparently fallen down a two-meter (six-and-a-half foot) staircase last week.
Witnesses saw the robot officer “circling in one spot as if something was there” before the accident occurred, but the exact cause of the fall is still being investigated, a city council official told AFP.
“Pieces have been collected and will be analysed by the company,” the official said, adding that the robot had “helped with daily document deliveries, city promotion, and delivered information” to local residents.
“It was officially a part of the city hall, one of us,” another official said. “It worked diligently.”
Headlines in local media questioned the apparent robot suicide, saying: “Why did the diligent civil officer do it?” or asking “Was work too hard” for the robot?
Appointed in August 2023, the robot was one of the first to be used in this manner in the city.
Made by Bear Robotics, a Californian robot-waiter startup, the robot worked from 9 am to 6 pm and had its own civil service officer card.
Unlike other robots, which can typically only use one floor, the Gumi City Council robot could call an elevator and move floors on its own.
South Korea is one of the most enthusiastic users of robots globally.
It has the highest robot density in the world, with one industrial robot for every 10 employees, according to the International Federation of Robotics.
Gumi City Council is currently not planning to adopt a second robot officer at this moment, it told AFP.
Lo Celso kicked the ball off Bravo and it rebounded to Chile’s Igor Lichnovsky, who tried to poke it wide, but Lautaro Martínez, who entered in the 73rd, calmly one-timed that rebound into the roof of the net on Argentina’s 21st shot.
Players waited for three minutes while the goal, Martínez’s 26th for the national team, was confirmed in a video review.
Argentina leads Group A with six points, followed by Canada with three, and Chile and Peru with one each.
The world champions finish the first round against Peru at Miami Gardens, Florida, on Saturday, when Canada meets Chile in Orlando, Florida.

Governors of the 36 states of Nigeria have fixed an emergency meeting for today, Wednesday, over the proposed new minimum wage.
This comes a few hours after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Tuesday stepped down the memo on minimum wage.

As the world marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi has called for more concerted efforts towards preventing drug abuse and guiding those weighed down by addiction.
Obi stressed that the government must seek to save the nation from the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
He suggested that the government should invest in rehabilitating those already caught in the web of drug abuse and stringent punishment meted out to drug traffickers.
In a statement issued on Wednesday via his X handle, he lamented that drugs and substance abuse have contributed to high rates of crime, moral decadence in society, and other associated health hazards.
According to him, it also greatly dampens the productivity of the people, especially the youth population.
Citing a report by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) which said that about 14.3 million Nigerians aged 15-64 years, abused drugs, Obi said more efforts must be channeled into prevention.
He said: “Today is set aside by the global community to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It is a day set out to strengthen actions that will rid the society of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
“It is also a day that reminds us of the need to direct more concerted efforts towards preventing drug abuse and guiding those weighed down by addiction through the path of freedom.
“For a predominantly youthful population, Nigeria, where poverty and and where unemployment are on the increase, the incidence of drug abuse remains high.
“Economic hardship and other poor socio-economic factors have been identified as the leading factors fueling drug abuse among our youth.
“A report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) states that Nigeria and some African countries will witness a 40 per cent rise in the population of drug users, especially the youth population if urgent measures are not taken.
“The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reports that about 14.3 million Nigerians aged 15-64 years, abuse drugs. The National Bureau of Statistics reports a 14.4 per cent drug prevalence in Nigeria, which is twice the global average of 5.8 percent.
“Drugs and substance abuse have contributed to high rates of crime, moral decadence in society, and other associated health hazards. It also greatly dampens the productivity of the people, especially the youth population.
“We must, therefore, seek to save our nation from the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. More efforts must be channeled into preventing the spread of this virus.
“The government should invest in rehabilitating those already caught in the web of drug abuse and stringent punishment meted out to drug traffickers.
“With commitment and sincerity of action, we can achieve a drug-free nation in a New Nigeria that is possible.”

Emefiele had been under investigation for alleged corruption after he was suspended in June 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
