Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has extolled Late Chief Johnson Uzor Nesiegbe Kalu, father of Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for raising children who have risen to prominence in society.
Describing Sen. Kalu as wonderful, Buhari who spoke on Sunday at the 10th anniversary of the transition of his father, Late Chief Nesiegbe Kalu congratulated him for bringing family and friends together to celebrate the late patriarch who passed on 2010, ABN TV reports.
The President who was represented by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah said it is the pride of every father to have a child who will celebrate him even while he has exited the world.
While saluting Kalu for his courage, the President said even while in the grave, Late Chief Johnson Uzor Nesiegbe Kalu will be proud that he has children representing him on earth.
While consoling Sen. Kalu’s mother, Chief Mrs. Eunice Uzor Kalu, the President urged her to take solace in the fact that God has blessed her with children who have taken up the role of her husband by providing her succour, support, and understanding.
While noting that the year 2020 has been wonderful as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19, he urged those who survived the year to grateful to God, adding that in other climes, people die in thousands as a result of the pandemic.
“In other countries, people are dying in thousands but in this region, God has been so merciful to us. In Africa, the COVID-19 related deaths compared to the experiences of the Western world can only be a product of the mercy of God.
“He knows we don’t have any strength and that is why He’s always protecting us. So the President is happy. He sent me to represent him. He is happy with our leader, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu. He is happy to be associated with him” Ogah added.
ABN TV reports that the anniversary brought together prominent political leaders, including 4 out of 5 South Eastern states with the Abia governor absent, President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Representing Abia Central and former governor of the state, Sen. T.A Orji, House of Representatives Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, a constitutional lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN), former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, and a host of others.
