Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in Honourable Justice, Stellamaris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso as the new Acting President of the State Customary Court of Appeal.

The Governor also swore in Lady Uzoamaka Patience Onuigbo as a new Permanent Secretary in the Abia State Civil Service.

The Governor while speaking at the event which took place at the Banquet Hall of Government House Umuahia, congratulated the new appointees on the milestone they have attained in their careers.

He charged them to leave the offices they have attained better than they met them.

According to him, climbing to the apex of one’s career is not an easy task but one that takes patience, diligence and commitment, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka said in a statement.

He said the Governor reminded the new Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal that the expectation on her was high but expressed confidence that she will acquit herself creditably.

He added, “He enjoined her to embrace reforms and leave her office better than she met it and assured her that government will ensure that her reign is smooth and successful.

“To that end, the Governor especially enjoined the new Permanent Secretary to make her contributions and offer her service to the development of the State as well as to superintendent with the fear of God.

“The Governor used the forum to congratulate the Out-gone President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Anyalewechi Onwuchekwa (Rtd) for his many years of service to our Judiciary, assuring that he will be remembered for being firm, courageous and steadfast during his reign as President of the Customary Court of Appeal. The Governor noted that the retired Jurist is one of the longest-serving Judicial Officers in the entire South East.

“In her acceptance speech, the Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Stellamaris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso who noted that nature and the constitution abhor a vacuum, thanked the Governor for the honour done her and promised to do her work in an upright manner.

‘Also, the new Permanent Secretary, Lady Uzoamaka Patience Onuigbo expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity given her to serve and pledged to support his administration and contribute her quota to the development of the State.

“The oaths were administered by the Director, Civil Litigation of the State Ministry of Justice, Mr Ogubunka who stood for the State Solicitor General, Lady Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne.

“State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, State Chief Judge, Justice Onuoha Ogwe and Judges of the State Judiciary, Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa Esq, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr ACB Agbazuere and other top officials of the State Government were part of the event which held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Umuahia”.
