Despite differences in their political parties, the minister of state for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has indicated readiness to assist, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu the Abia state governor in the fight against COVID-19.
Ogah was the governorship candidate of APC in the 2019 election in the state while the incumbent governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was the PDP candidate in the election.
Recall that ABN TV had brought you a report of the donation of fifty percent March salary by Ogah and other FEC members to the federal government in ending COVID-19.
In a statement signed CHIJIOKE UDEOGU ESQ on behalf of the minister, Ogah made available to ABN TV, called on Abia government to set up a special fund where good-spirited Nigerians can donate towards the fight against the virus.
“In addition to his contribution at the Federal level as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, OON, FCA, announces his support to the Government of Abia State towards its effort at combating COVID 19 and other related issues arising from the pandemic.
“Dr. Ogah therefore, calls on the Government of Abia to set up a FUND where good-spirited Abians, Friends and Associates alike can make their contributions for a more broad-based response to this pandemic in Abia State” the statement read.
The Minister also called on other Abians to join hands with him in supporting the efforts by the state government through the deployment of resources needed in a time like this in the interest of the people.
“It is his hope that the state government will quickly set up a team to manage this FUND, comprising Abians from different sects.
“Dr. Ogah’s prayers are with the good people of Abia as he expects them to continue to observe all the precautionary measures put in place by the government to enable them to stave off the virus” he added.
