The political ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa, has received a boost following his endorsement by Inyom Ututu, a women’s group from Ututu Clan in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.

The endorsement was announced during an interactive meeting between Ukwa and members of the group, led by their President, Chief Mrs. O. J. Kanu, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
According to a statement issued by the Ikenna Ukwa Media Team on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the women expressed confidence in Ukwa’s ability to provide effective representation for the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Describing the APC candidate as “our son in whom we are well pleased,” the women said their decision to support his aspiration was informed by what they described as his humility, accessibility, commitment to community development and record of philanthropic activities.

They pledged to mobilise support for his candidacy among women and other residents of Ututu, both at home and in the diaspora, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also commended Ukwa for his involvement in humanitarian and community development initiatives, urging him to sustain his efforts towards improving the welfare of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Chief Mrs. Kanu reaffirmed their commitment to supporting his political ambition, expressing optimism that he would give adequate attention to the developmental needs of Ututu Clan if elected.
Responding, Ukwa expressed appreciation to the women for their endorsement, prayers and encouragement, describing them as important pillars of the Ututu community.
He acknowledged the role of women in promoting peace, unity and development, assuring them that Ututu would receive due attention in his plans for the federal constituency.
The APC candidate also pledged to deliver what he described as a major development project in Ututu within three weeks as a demonstration of his commitment to the community.
Although details of the proposed project were not disclosed, Ukwa said the initiative would further demonstrate his appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by the people.
He reiterated his commitment to accessible, inclusive and people-oriented representation, promising to work towards addressing the needs of communities across Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas if elected in 2027.
The meeting featured a formal declaration of support for Ukwa’s candidacy, alongside prayers offered by the women for his success in the forthcoming elections.
The endorsement comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with candidates and political groups intensifying consultations and engagements across Abia State.
