Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his commitment to leading with the fear of God, declaring that his administration will not deliberately engage in actions that contradict his Christian beliefs and principles of good governance.
Governor Otti made the declaration on Sunday, October 18, 2026, during a worship service at the headquarters of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries in Ijesha, Lagos State.
Speaking before the congregation, the Governor emphasised that his involvement in politics is rooted in his belief that all power comes from God and that those entrusted with leadership must remain accountable to Him.
Quoting Psalm 62:11, Otti said his strong Christian upbringing continues to influence his decisions and approach to governance.
“My late father was a pastor, and he was Pastor Lazarus Otti. So you can understand, I am a Levite,” the Governor said.
“Our foray into politics is because we believe that power belongs to God. God has spoken once, twice have I heard it, that power belongs to God.
“We take instructions from God. If it is not right, we will not do it. If God does not approve it, we will not do it,” he declared.
The Governor explained that his visit to the church was in fulfilment of a promise he made to its Founder and General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, during one of the cleric’s visits to Abia State.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements, Otti maintained that Abia State had witnessed significant improvements since he assumed office in May 2023.
He recalled that there was a time when some residents were reluctant to identify with the state because of its challenges, but expressed confidence that the situation had changed under his leadership.
The Governor invited Nigerians who were yet to visit Abia to come and assess the progress being made across the state.
His remarks drew applause from members of the congregation.
Otti also reiterated his commitment to integrity in public office, stressing that doing what is right remains essential to maintaining a clear conscience and earning public trust.
The Governor had made similar remarks on Saturday during a Sabbath worship service at the Unity Chapel, Government House, Umuahia, where he described God as the foundation of his administration.
He maintained that he would never approach the State House of Assembly, the Judiciary or any other institution with a request to engage in wrongdoing.
According to him, leaders who act with integrity can rest peacefully and defend their decisions without fear.
Governor Otti thanked Pastor Muoka and members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries for their warm reception and the opportunity to worship with them.
In his response, Pastor Muoka led the congregation in prayers for the Governor, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength and continued success in the administration of Abia State.
