Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South-East Development Commission, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has reiterated that the commission must operate from the South-East rather than Abuja.
Kalu made the declaration during an oversight inspection of the commission’s facilities in Enugu.
He expressed satisfaction with improvements recorded at the commission’s headquarters but insisted that its operations must benefit communities across the five South-East states.
The former Abia governor said the committee would return in December to assess further progress.
He also indicated that the earlier disagreement over the location of the commission’s operations had been addressed.
