Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District and former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has arrived in Ohafia for a ward-to-ward tour aimed at engaging directly with residents and strengthening his connection with communities in the area.

Announcing his arrival, Kalu described Ohafia as a place that holds deep personal significance for him, stressing that his relationship with the ancient kingdom extends beyond politics.
The senator recalled the honour bestowed on him by the people of Ohafia through the traditional title of Ikenga of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, describing it as a reflection of the longstanding relationship he shares with the community.
“I have just arrived in Ohafia for my ward-to-ward tour and to engage with the people who are so dear to me,” Kalu said.
“Ohafia is home to me. My relationship with this ancient kingdom goes beyond politics. It is a bond of love, friendship and mutual respect, made even more special when the people honoured me with the revered title of Ikenga of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom.”

Rather than limiting his visit to formal engagements, the former Abia governor said he chose to walk through the streets, exchanging greetings and interacting directly with residents.
According to him, the approach offered an opportunity to listen to the people and reconnect with communities at the grassroots.
“As I arrived today, I chose to walk through the streets, meet the people myself, exchange greetings, share in their warmth and listen to them,” he said.
“For me, there is no better way to reconnect with a people and a community that occupy such a special place in my heart.”
Kalu said the reception he received from residents further reinforced his longstanding attachment to Ohafia.
“The warmth, smiles and affection from the people remind me once again why Ohafia will always feel like home,” he added.
Concluding his message with an expression in the local dialect, the senator declared: “It’s great to be home. Ohafia, kaa ni wo!”
The ward-to-ward tour is expected to provide Kalu with opportunities to interact with residents across communities, hear their concerns and engage them on issues affecting the senatorial district.
