Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to represent Portugal after being included in the squad selected by new head coach Jorge Jesus for the upcoming international fixtures.
The experienced forward remains part of the national team setup as Jesus begins his tenure in charge, putting to rest any immediate uncertainty over Ronaldo’s international future.
Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer and most-capped player, remains an important figure for the national side as the team prepares for its next assignments.
His inclusion also gives Jesus the opportunity to work with one of the most experienced players in Portuguese football as the new coach begins preparations with the squad.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano on X on Friday, “Cristiano Ronaldo will continue with Portugal national team!
“He’s been called up for the upcoming games by new head coach Jorge Jesus.”
Portugal will begin their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign on September 24, 2026, when they host Wales.
Four days later, on September 27, Portugal will travel to face Norway before taking on Denmark away on October 1.
Portugal will then welcome Norway on October 4 in their fourth group-stage fixture.
The final two matches of the group stage will see Portugal travel to Denmark on November 14, before rounding off their campaign away to Wales on November 17.
Portugal are in League A, Group 4, alongside Wales, Norway and Denmark.
