The leadership of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign has commended the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for what it described as his impactful representation and commitment to the development of Bende Federal Constituency.
The group also urged the Deputy Speaker to sustain constituency development projects, empowerment programmes and grassroots engagement to further improve the lives of his constituents.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit to Kalu in Abuja by members of the socio-political grassroots campaign organisation, established under the patronage of Niger Delta leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking during the visit, the Southeast Zonal Coordinator of the group, Precious Ine, said the delegation was in Abuja to appreciate Kalu’s performance in the House of Representatives and to acknowledge lawmakers who have continued to advance the interests of the Southeast.
He noted that the Deputy Speaker’s leadership had positively impacted communities across Abia State through constituency projects and empowerment initiatives that have reached the grassroots.
“We have come to say we are proud of you as our representative. You have done well, from your constituency projects to your empowerment programmes that have trickled down even to the ward level,” he said.
Also speaking, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Sunday Asukonbi, described Kalu as a proactive and result-oriented lawmaker whose achievements within three years in the National Assembly had surpassed expectations.
According to him, the Deputy Speaker has distinguished himself through effective representation, humility and servant leadership, adding that his performance compares favourably with that of lawmakers who have spent much longer in the National Assembly.
The group’s National Secretary, Mrs. Tosin Daniel, also commended Kalu’s people-centred approach to governance, noting that women, children and other vulnerable groups across the constituency had continued to benefit from his various intervention programmes.
She added that many residents had expressed satisfaction with his style of representation and encouraged him to expand ongoing constituency projects and empowerment initiatives to address additional community needs.
The delegation further pledged its continued political support for Kalu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring him of its commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and the confidence reposed in him, describing the interaction as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with grassroots supporters.
Kalu assured the group that his office would remain open and accessible to the people, while announcing plans to establish a liaison arrangement aimed at improving communication between his office and party members at the local government level.
He reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, pledging to continue attracting projects, implementing empowerment programmes and pursuing initiatives that would improve the welfare and development of the people of Bende Federal Constituency.
