The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party has expressed confidence in the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, stating that he remains committed to his legislative responsibilities despite recent legal developments involving him and his predecessor, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Rt. Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
In a statement issued on behalf of the party, the Labour Party said it had held extensive consultations with Hon. Ogah and was satisfied that the federal lawmaker remains “focused, unshaken and fully committed” to the mandate entrusted to him by the electorate.
The party assured the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Labour Party members, and Abians that the lawmaker remains in high spirits and is determined to continue providing effective representation, sponsoring people-oriented legislation, and pursuing constituency development initiatives.
The statement urged constituents to remain calm and continue supporting Hon. Ogah, insisting that he would not be distracted or discouraged from carrying out the responsibilities for which he was elected.
The Labour Party also reaffirmed its position that the 2023 general election reflected the will of the people, maintaining that Hon. Ogah emerged victorious through a democratic process.
Commenting on the lingering political and legal contest involving the two politicians, the party advised former Minister Rt. Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha to allow Hon. Ogah concentrate on his legislative duties. While acknowledging that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to seek legal redress, the party argued that legal processes should not be used as instruments of political intimidation or distraction against elected public officials.
The statement further noted that if Onyejeocha believes she still enjoys the support of the people, she should await the next general election and seek a fresh mandate through the ballot.
Highlighting Hon. Ogah’s performance since assuming office, the Labour Party described him as one of the most active first-term lawmakers in the current House of Representatives, citing his legislative interventions, motions, constituency projects, scholarship programmes, healthcare initiatives, youth empowerment schemes and sustained engagement with constituents.
According to the party, these achievements have earned the lawmaker recognition beyond his constituency and established him as one of the notable performers in the 10th National Assembly.
The party also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups, religious leaders and other stakeholders across Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency to continue supporting Hon. Ogah as he carries out his legislative mandate.
The statement added that the Chairman of the Abia State Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, had assured Hon. Ogah of the continued support of the State Working Committee and the entire Labour Party family in the state, describing the lawmaker’s performance as commendable.

The party’s reaction follows recent court proceedings involving Hon. Ogah. As of the time of filing this report, there has been no public response from Rt. Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha regarding the Labour Party’s statement. The legal matters involving the two politicians remain before the courts.
