The Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday by his special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu also commended the electorate for the peaceful conduct of the election and for giving the ruling All Progressives Congress another mandate to govern the state.
He described Oyebanji’s landslide victory as a reflection of the governor’s popularity and the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ekiti State.
Sanwo-Olu said the outcome of the poll was a reward for good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends during Oyebanji’s first term in office.
Sanwo-Olu said, “I congratulate my dear brother, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, for emerging victorious in yesterday’s governorship election. I also congratulate his running mate, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, on her re-election.
“Governor Oyebanji’s victory in the governorship poll with 83.54 per cent of the total votes cast is a reward for performance and outstanding delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State during his first term.
“I want to thank the good people of Ekiti State for their unflinching support and continued belief in our great party, the All Progressives Congress. I want to assure you that the ruling party will not disappoint you.”
Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that the renewed mandate would further strengthen the APC’s position in the South-West and provide an opportunity for Oyebanji to deepen development initiatives across Ekiti State.
Sanwo-Olu, who served as a member of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti State Governorship Election led by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, also praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as the right leadership and direction being provided for Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
PUNCH Online reports that Oyebanji secured victory across the 16 local government areas of the state, polling 83.54 per cent of the total votes cast in the election.
