A prominent community leader and philanthropist, Chief Orieji Emele (Ada Ukwu Ejiejemba of Ebem Ohafia), has called on the people of Abia State, particularly indigenes of Ebem Ohafia, to support the re-election bids of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, in the 2027 general elections.
Chief Emele made the call on Sunday during the combined mid-year meeting of the men and women of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), Umuahia Branch.
Addressing members of the union, she said the developmental achievements recorded by Governor Otti’s administration and the legislative performance of Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa have justified the need for continuity in office beyond 2027.
According to her, the governor’s infrastructural transformation across Abia State and Hon. Osonwa’s representation of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency have delivered visible dividends of democracy, making their re-election a worthy cause.
She urged members of the union and other stakeholders to remain committed to supporting leaders who have demonstrated capacity, accountability, and dedication to public service.
Chief Emele also commended the EODU Umuahia Branch for its unity and commitment to community development, noting that the joint meeting of the men’s and women’s wings provided an opportunity to assess progress and strengthen cooperation among members.
Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinator of E-Group, Comrade Ochea Odum Idika, described the re-election of Governor Otti and Hon. Osonwa as a collective responsibility for their supporters.
He encouraged members of the union to ensure they register as voters and, where necessary, transfer their voter registration details to their respective communities in Ohafia to enable them participate fully in future elections.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of EODU Umuahia Branch, Elder Samuel Ubaka, welcomed Chief Orieji Emele to the meeting and appreciated her for identifying with members of the branch despite her busy schedule.
The meeting attracted a large turnout of men and women of Ebem Ohafia resident in Umuahia and its environs, including the spokesperson of the EODU Central Executive Council, Chief Ifeanyi Okali, among other community leaders and stakeholders.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for members to review ongoing activities of the union and discuss issues relating to the development and progress of Ebem Ohafia.
