The Osun Health Insurance Agency has commenced arrangements to enroll traditional rulers across the state and their spouses into the State Health Insurance Scheme following the approval of Gov. Ademola Adeleke.
The agency said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare delivery for all residents of Osun State, regardless of social status or background.
Speaking on the development, the executive secretary of OHIS, Rasaq Akindele, on the state’s X handle on Monday, disclosed that the agency had already put necessary measures in place to ensure a seamless enrollment exercise across the state.
He said officials of the agency would begin visits to the palaces of traditional rulers from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for registration and enrollment, adding that the exercise would last for two weeks.
According to him, “The present administration remains passionate about the health and well-being of the people; hence, the decision to extend the benefits of the State Health Insurance Scheme to revered traditional institutions across the state.”
Akindele noted that the gesture was aimed at strengthening healthcare access for royal fathers and their spouses while appreciating their contributions to peace, unity, and development in Osun State.
“The agency has already put the necessary machinery in motion to ensure a seamless enrollment exercise,” he said.
He further assured residents that OHIS would continue to implement people-oriented health policies capable of improving the living standards and well-being of residents across the state.
“The gesture is aimed at strengthening healthcare access for royal fathers and their spouses while appreciating their immense contributions towards peace, unity, and development in Osun State,” Akindele added.
