Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State to put aside their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the Abia APC Stakeholders Meeting held in Umuahia, Senator Kalu disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally mandated party leaders in the state to ensure victory for the APC in future elections.
According to him, the President emphasized the need for unity among party stakeholders, especially between him and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
“Today is not a speech-making day. Today is a day for every member of this party to reflect on where we will be by 2027. We have the mandate of the President to deliver Abia State,” Orji Kalu stated.
He revealed that President Tinubu specifically advised against internal wrangling and unnecessary rivalry within the party.
“He told me one on one, ‘Quarrel no more. Don’t quarrel with your younger brother, the Deputy Speaker.’ From now, quarrel is gone, bickering is gone. We have to face the work of delivering the state,” he said.
The former governor stressed that younger politicians need opportunities to grow and occupy leadership positions, urging party members to support one another for the collective interest of the APC.
Kalu warned against political gossip and online propaganda aimed at creating division between him and the Deputy Speaker, insisting that such actions would not help the party.
“People should stop using my name to create problems. If you have anything to say, say it with your name, not mine,” he cautioned.
He maintained that unity remains the only path for the APC to achieve meaningful electoral success in Abia State.
