Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Nollywood actor and entertainer, Mr. Alex Ekubo, describing his demise as a painful loss to the entertainment industry and the nation at large.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the state government, Governor Otti sympathized with the family, friends, and fans of the late actor, noting that Ekubo passed away at a time when his artistic and humanitarian contributions were still blossoming.
The Governor stated that the late actor’s talent, creativity, and dedication to the entertainment industry inspired many young Nigerians to pursue their dreams in Nollywood and beyond.
Governor Otti, who during his time as a bank chief executive supported and sponsored activities within the Nollywood industry to encourage talent development, lamented that Ekubo’s death has created a huge vacuum and setback in the movie industry.
He, however, expressed appreciation to the late actor’s family and close associates for standing by him and managing his health situation throughout the period of his illness.
While urging Abians and Nigerians to bear the painful loss with courage and faith, Governor Otti prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
The condolence message was signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on May 16, 2026.
