The Labour Party in Abia State has reportedly granted automatic tickets to five serving members of the House of Representatives ahead of the next general elections.

According to information made available, the affected lawmakers were allegedly endorsed to fly the party’s flag in their respective federal constituencies following internal consultations within the party.

The lawmakers reportedly granted the automatic tickets include Ginger Onwusibe for Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Amobi Godwin Ogah for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Alex Ikwechegh for Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Ibe Okwara Osonwa for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, and Obi Aguocha for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.

Although the party is yet to officially release a formal statement confirming the development, sources within the Labour Party indicated that the move may not be unconnected to the lawmakers’ loyalty to the party and their contributions to strengthening the Labour Party structure in Abia State.

Political observers believe the reported automatic tickets could help the party avoid internal disputes ahead of the primaries while consolidating its position across the affected federal constituencies.

The development comes amid ongoing political consultations and preparations by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Abia State leadership of the Labour Party were still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
