The Labour Party in Abia State has announced that five serving members of the House of Representatives under its platform have formally obtained nomination forms ahead of the forthcoming electoral processes in the state.

The party described the development as a reflection of the growing unity, stability, and confidence within its ranks as it continues to strengthen its structures across Abia State.

The lawmakers who received the nomination forms include Ginger Onwusibe representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency; Obi Aguocha representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency; Amobi Godwin Ogah representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency; Ibe Okwara Osonwa representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency; and Alex Ikwechegh representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency.

In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Iroegbu Emenike, the Labour Party noted that the lawmakers would proceed with the completion and submission of their forms in line with the constitutional procedures and guidelines of the party.

The party further disclosed that the collection of nomination forms by interested aspirants for various elective positions remains ongoing, as consultations and engagements continue with stakeholders across different levels.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, fairness, and internal democracy, the party assured members and the general public that all pre-election activities and processes would be conducted in a peaceful, credible, and inclusive manner.

Speaking on the development, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Peter Azubuike, assured party members and supporters that the Labour Party would ensure a peaceful primary process unlike what he described as the situation in some other political parties.

According to him, the party remains focused on strengthening unity within its fold while sustaining the confidence reposed in it by the people of Abia State through responsible leadership and people-oriented governance.

The party leadership also expressed appreciation to members, supporters, and stakeholders for their continued loyalty, cooperation, and commitment towards the growth and success of the Labour Party in Abia State.
