A chieftain and aspiring lawmaker, Hon. GodsLight C. Mbakwe, popularly known as Esebe Jnr, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Abia State House of Assembly seat representing Umuahia Central Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, promising to champion people-oriented representation and community development.
Speaking during his declaration ceremony, Hon. Mbakwe said his decision to join the race was driven by a strong desire to ignite hope, spark progress, and deliver lasting prosperity to the people of Umuahia Central Constituency.
Addressing party faithful, community leaders, youths, women, and supporters who gathered for the event, the aspirant expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the opportunity to stand before the people and formally unveil his ambition.
He also appreciated stakeholders and residents for their support and encouragement, describing their presence at the event as a strong sign of confidence in his vision for the constituency.
Hon. Mbakwe paid tribute to fathers, mothers, and elders for their prayers and sacrifices over the years, while also acknowledging the energy and aspirations of the youths whom he described as critical to the future of the constituency.
The State Assembly hopeful stated that his vision for Umuahia Central is centered on effective institutions, economic opportunities, infrastructural growth, and responsive representation that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
“I envision a constituency where our institutions function effectively, where our economy creates real opportunities for our people, where infrastructure supports growth and development, and most importantly, where our people feel truly represented,” he said.
Calling for unity among residents and political stakeholders, Mbakwe stressed that the movement was not about personal ambition but about collective progress and shared development.
“This journey is not about one man—it is about all of us. Let us join hands, hearts, and minds to build together, empower one another, and uplift our communities,” he stated.
He further outlined key areas that would form the focus of his representation if elected, including youth empowerment, support for women and families, community-driven projects, and transparent leadership.
The aspirant assured constituents of his commitment to listening to the people, defending their interests, and working tirelessly to advance the growth and development of Umuahia Central.
