The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office.
In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC described the report as “misleading, malicious, and deceptive propaganda” allegedly orchestrated by Governor Otti’s media team.
The party maintained that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu remains a loyal and committed member of the APC, insisting that he is still the undisputed leader of the party in Abia State.
According to the statement, at no point, either publicly or privately, did the Deputy Speaker endorse Governor Otti for re-election ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The APC further stated that Kalu remains focused on strengthening the party and ensuring that the APC wins all elective positions in Abia State, including taking over Government House, Umuahia, in 2027.
The statement also alleged that the Labour Party-led administration in the state has failed in critical sectors of governance, adding that many Abians are dissatisfied with the direction of the current government.
“His determination to ensure that the Labour Party administration in Abia State is voted out remains strong, consistent, and unwavering,” the statement read.
The party urged residents of the state to remain united and committed to the APC, assuring that the party is prepared to offer what it described as a credible alternative leadership for Abia State.
