Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia South Senatorial District have called on the member representing Obingwa-West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, to contest the Abia South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an enlarged meeting of APC stakeholders held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the country home of the lawmaker in Umuaro, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
In the communiqué read by former Commissioner for Information in Abia State, Chief Don Ubani, the stakeholders expressed strong dissatisfaction with the representation of the district at the Senate over the past two decades, stating that the people of Abia South are “tired and dissatisfied” with what they described as ineffective leadership.
They noted that there are no visible projects or achievements to justify nearly twenty years of representation, stressing that the development needs of the senatorial district have been largely neglected.
The stakeholders further maintained that the prolonged period of representation has impacted negatively on the people of the district, which comprises Aba North, Aba South, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas.
Consequently, they unanimously called on Hon. Erondu Jnr, whom they described as an “illustrious son of Abia South,” to heed their collective appeal and represent the district in the 11th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027.
Reacting, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr expressed gratitude to the APC stakeholders for finding him worthy of the call, noting that his commitment over the years has been focused on improving the welfare and living conditions of the people.
The Uhie-born lawmaker stated that party stakeholders have the final say in such decisions and expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by critical stakeholders across the senatorial district.
The former Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area thanked them for their support and assured that he would not disappoint, adding that he would give a formal response to their request within 72 hours.

Prince Nwaokorie, Nwankpa Akpulonu, Mrs. Alaribe Victoria Ngozi, Nwogwugwu Ngozi Miriam, Hon. Goodluck Amaefule, Rt. Hon. Tony Mezie Nwubani, Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna, Goodluck Onwuka Nwagwu, Hon. Jude O. Martins, Hon. Azuka P. Chinweoke, Hon. Ukannwoke Nnabueze, Hon. Azubuike Moses, Chief Fred Eme and Ogbonna Hope.
The development signals early political alignment within the APC in Abia South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
