The Abia State Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, has paid a strategic visit to the Federal College of Education, Ofeme-Ohuhu, where he pledged support for the institution’s development.
The delegation was warmly received by the management, staff, and students of the college. Speaking on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Titus Sunday Ezeme, the Registrar, Lady F.C.N. Ibe, described the visit as encouraging, commending Igbokwe and his team as forward-thinking young leaders committed to growth and development. She noted that despite being a relatively new institution, established three years ago, the college is making steady progress.
Also speaking, the College Librarian, Mr. Bulus Caleb Damen, praised Igbokwe’s contributions to media and community development, particularly his investment in radio broadcasting. He, however, highlighted key challenges facing the institution, including inadequate ICT facilities, poor road access, lack of transportation, and insufficient power supply, while appealing for support in scholarships and infrastructure.
In response, Mayor Igbokwe reaffirmed his commitment to education and community advancement, describing education as a critical pillar for societal progress. He announced that the City Boy Movement would soon roll out empowerment initiatives that would address some of the institution’s needs, including transportation support.
He further disclosed that the Don Lulu Foundation would donate laptops to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative efficiency within the college.
Speaking on his political ambition, Igbokwe reiterated his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, assuring that, if elected, he would prioritise the development of access roads leading to the institution. He also pledged personal support towards infrastructure development, including the construction of a hall and additional classrooms.
He commended the management and students for their dedication, urging continued commitment to the growth of the institution.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged support, describing Igbokwe as a visionary leader with genuine interest in educational development.
The visit underscores growing collaboration between political leadership, community stakeholders, and educational institutions aimed at advancing development in Abia State.
