The family of Late Chief Chris Emeka Okoro (Akpankume), who until his death served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Abia State Command, has announced funeral arrangements for the respected officer.
Late DCP Okoro passed on at the age of 55 and was described by family members as a devoted husband, father, and dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to security operations in Abia State and beyond.
According to the burial programme, activities will begin on Sunday, April 19, 2026, with a Service of Songs at his residence in Adelabu Estate, Umuahia, Abia State.
A Christian wake-keep will follow on Friday, April 24, 2026, at his village compound in Ndianiche-uno, Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
Final burial rites will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The body will depart Madonna Mortuary and be taken to the Police Headquarters, Umuahia, before proceeding to Arondizuogu. The remains are expected to arrive his hometown later in the morning, where a funeral service will be held at Christ Methodist Church, World Bank, Umuahia.
Interment will follow immediately at his family compound.
Late DCP Chris Emeka Okoro is remembered for his professionalism, courage, and commitment to maintaining law and order, especially in his role as DCP Operations in Abia State Command.
He is survived by his wife, children, and extended family members.
