Top leaders of the African Democratic Congress have arrived in Kano State ahead of the expected defection of the former Kano State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The delegation, which touched down on Monday, includes the ADC National Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark; former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, among others.
They were received at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo.
Kwankwaso is set to move to the ADC alongside Gwarzo, the Senator representing Kano Central, Rufa’i Hanga, and the Kano State Chairman of the NNP, Hashim Dungurawa.
Kwankwaso announced his resignation from the NNPP on Sunday, citing the need for political realignment.
Kwankwaso, in a statement issued on Sunday, said, “I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party with immediate effect.”
