The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed strong confidence that Abia State will deliver victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, including the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Kalu made the declaration on Friday during the OUK Movement, Reality Organisation and APC Tripartite First Quarter Meeting held at his country home, Camp Neya in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
The enlarged meeting brought together thousands of party members from the 307 wards across Abia State, with an estimated 5,893 members in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Kalu said the meeting was convened to strengthen unity within the party and reassure members that the APC in Abia State remains united and focused ahead of the 2027 elections.
He explained that decisions taken during the recent party congresses by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, were made with his full consent, dismissing speculations of divisions within the party.
According to him, the Deputy Speaker remains a key member of the Reality Organisation political structure, adding that reconciliation within the Abia APC has been successfully concluded.
Kalu also warned party members against any form of sabotage that could weaken the party’s chances in future elections, stressing that the APC is determined to win all elective positions in the state in 2027, including the presidency, governorship, Senate and House of Representatives seats.
The former Abia State governor further reiterated his commitment to ensuring President Tinubu’s victory in Abia, noting that the Federal Government has made significant investments in the state.
He called on the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to openly acknowledge the contributions of the Federal Government to the development of the state, adding that Abians must decide their political future independently.
Speaking on national issues, Senator Kalu attributed current economic challenges to global tensions involving countries such as the United States, Israel and Iran, but expressed optimism that the situation would improve.
He also restated his support for the establishment of state police, noting that the concept dates back to his tenure as governor of Abia State. According to him, the National Assembly will ensure adequate safeguards are put in place to prevent abuse by state governors.
Kalu added that the Senate will continue to support policies that promote development, noting that the Federal Government is reimbursing states for funds spent on federal road projects while also implementing initiatives that benefit Nigerian children, including free education programmes.
Also speaking at the meeting, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, stated that many political leaders in the state have roots linked to the political structure built by Senator Kalu through the Reality Organisation.
He noted that former governors Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu also emerged from the same political foundation.
Chinedum Orji pledged his continued support for Senator Kalu, insisting that no one can stop the Abia North lawmaker from returning to the Senate. He urged party members to support President Tinubu and whoever emerges as the APC governorship candidate in 2027.
In his remarks, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, a governorship hopeful, called on party members to remain committed to the party’s growth. He formally declared his intention to contest the Abia State governorship election in 2027 and urged supporters to intensify mobilization efforts across the state.
The APC State Secretary, Chief Chidi Avuaja, also emphasized that the party has no faction in Abia State, stressing the need for unity as politics remains a game of numbers.
Other party leaders who addressed the gathering, including Chief Dan Okeke, Ifeanyi Elvis, Chief Mrs. Ori Obasi, Ugoeze Promise Okpanku, APC Women Leader Mrs. Jimiama Ola-Kalu, and Mrs. Udo Uduma, commended Senator Kalu for fostering unity within the party and encouraged members to attract more supporters.
Also speaking, Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Ikenna Ukwa, said he attended the meeting alongside supporters from Ohafia to pledge their loyalty to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and reaffirm their commitment to the success of the APC in future elections.
The meeting ended with renewed calls for unity among party members as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
